Memorial Day Thoughts

This is the day to honor those men and women in the service of our nation who have given their all so that we may remain free. It is also the time to remember our family and friends who have departed this life.

In my childhood I vividly recall my Aunts: Alma, Sis and their families driving with me to the cemetery to decorate the graves of the Gallaher's in Huntington,WV. At age 5 was my first memory of this ceremony. I was overwhelmed what the graves meant and not to step on them. I recall a big pond with waterlilies and swans..white swans sailing peacefully on the surface of the still water. What a privileged to decorate the past family members graves. Today my father and some friends are resting in that sacred place. If I were there I would be decorating graves this special day. I hope to return to Huntington for a few days to show respect for my deceased family members and the deep love I have for them and decorate their graves. This is my family. The ones who cared for one another.

When I was young I spent many summers in Flatwoods, KY to visit my lovable Aunt Alice and cousins. When visiting some of the friends and families of my cousins I recalled seeing for the first time photos of young military men who did not return from the war. I remember looking deeply into the photos eyes and feeling great sadness for these brave sons.

Later as a teenager during the Korea Conflict I recall watching the names on the evening news of those who were killed in action. I also remembering as a child looking at a set of books showing pictures of World War II . Horrible pictures that I was told not to look at. Glad I did look because today that war holds a dark place in my heart knowing what man can do to one another.

In closing I like to remember that one day at the sound of the 7th Trump we will be transformed into our spiritual bodies as Jesus brings an end to satin and his followers who are evil by refusing to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior.

Home at last to the third dimension. No evil just love and praising the lord. Amen!
